For those that might not know, this (to me) was the sequel to Godin's book, Purple Cow. This is also the book that originally sold in a cereal box! A play off the fact the first copies of Purple Cow came in a milk carton!

In searching my Throughput Blog, I was surprised to find that I had not yet mentioned this great textbook for "making something happen." Much like John Barry talked about WD-40 being a Marketing driven company, Godin talks about Marketing being a "whole company" activity, not just a few folk in a couple cubicles over in that poorly light corner of the basement.

The Order of Magnitude Job Board and Aggregator

The Goal: Bring back an Order of Magnitude
more Open Job Reqs than any other board

The good news? We are having some success!

As a web developer (mostly in a former life) I love the "LAMP" environment for developing robust database driven web sites. LAMP stands for Linux, Apache, MySql and PHP. So, to test RhinoGATOR™ on a regular basis (now that it has been live for a whole two weeks!) I check our results against the other "big boys" on the block.

This morning, we found 33 jobs

Not bad. Considering another "job aggregator" found only 18. One of the "800 lbs. gorillas" in the "job board" space only offers three. "Are we there yet?" Of course not. The bar we have set for ourselves would be at least 180 open opportunities. And yes, once we get there, we will introduce our "relevance" algorithm.

But for now, I am pleased to know we are producing more results than any other single source on the net. That is a great feeling. We have only begun to help put America back to work!
